Cry Wolf, Cry
Oh, the forest is burning, so run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Heed your mother’s warning and run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Oh, the guns are firing, so run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Well, the storm’s a coming, so run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
It seems the pipes are bursting, better run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Oh, the levee’s breaking, so run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Yea, the mountain’s moving, better run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Well, the sky’s a falling, so run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.
Hear the earth a weeping and run for your life.
Cry wolf, cry.

the Apocalypse Blues

When your ship set sail, there was a bright red dawn,
and you should’ve been warned but just carried on.
You cast all reason aside in an effort so vain,
and got left without an umbrella in the pouring rain.
Hell or high water, you couldn’t change course,
and as the flood came in you were full of remorse.
It seems you forgot all the lessons you learned,
and you hit a dead end and just couldn’t turn.
While all the sinners & saviours cried for apocalypse now,
you just waited for a miracle and forgot your vows.
There is no try, you only do or you don’t,
and in the end you were left throwing stones.
As your ship sank, you wished you’d been warned,
but it was eerily calm before the great storm.
Oh, the thunder boomed, and the lightning lit the sky,
the heavens tore open as you sat and cried.

I can’t see no stars in the sky tonight.
I can’t see no stars, girl, in the sky tonight.
Oh, I’d be a grateful man, yea, if somebody’d turn off the lights.
I’m gettin’ so tired of that constant hum.
Said I’m gettin’ so tired of that constant hum.
Oh, its a tasteless world, girl, and my brain feels numb.
Its hard to concentrate with all the background noise.
Its hard to concentrate, girl, with all the background noise.
And I’d be a thankful man, yea, if god got rid of your toys.
There ain’t no darkness here in the city tonight.
There ain’t no darkness here, babe, in the city tonight.
I just wanna see your face, yea, in the natural light.
I wanna see your face in the natural light.
I wanna see your face, girl, in the natural light.
Oh, I just can’t stand it, oh, this city life.

Somethin' For My Nerves
04:50
|
|
||
As I rode my beat up bike to the local drugstore, to get somethin’ for my nerves,
I was intercepted by a pretty lady with a smile, who told me she had the cure.
I knew if I couldn’t get my kicks or even a quick fix, I’d be sellin’ my soul for a sneeze.
I couldn’t help but cry and there was no reason why, so I fell down to my knees.
In the dim light of a cold crescent moon, under a tree with no leaves,
I held her cold hand and I told her the truth, but she just wouldn’t believe.
As I plead my case, and asked for some grace, the snow came down from the sky.
As it covered the ground without the tiniest of sounds, she was caught in a lie.
The very air was alive with the breathe of life itself as somethin’ came over me.
I don’t remember much of that indigo dream, but I woke with a sense of belief.
So take your black tongue and aim at someone else, I could never heed your curse.
So I jumped back on my bike, no destination in mind, lookin’ for a little somethin’ for my nerves.

In The Morning Sun
03:57
|
|
||
The night is creepin’
the wind is howlin’
the spirits are laughin’
as I wait for the morning sun.
The earth is moanin’
the sky is whisperin’
tellin’ me secrets
as I wait for the morning sun.
I sit restless
the fire is fading
and the moon stares righteous
as I wait for the morning sun.
Every thing’s still now
like a photograph
the trees keep listenin’
as I wait for the morning sun
My mind is driftin’
my senses heighten
the darkness is prowlin’
as I wait for the morning sun.
Lord I pray now
that when I awaken
love will be there
in the morning sun.
All night, I wait, to behold you in the morning sun.
